Pershing Hall Lit Up: Inside the First SideHustle LIVE in Austin's Recurring Room

On Feb 5, 2026, SideHustle LIVE staged its first show at Pershing Hall in Austin — the venue that would become the recurring Austin home for the format. Co-founders Darby Rollins and Tomer Soran hosted four-plus rounds of Funny + Fundable scoring with real entrepreneurs, comedians, and audience teams.

The night SideHustle LIVE moved into a bigger room

On February 5, 2026, SideHustle LIVE took the stage at Pershing Hall in Austin, Texas for the first time. After premiering the live show format at The Creek & The Cave on September 19, 2025 and filming the first show there on October 22, 2025, this was the night the format moved into the room that would become its recurring Austin home.

The setup

The first two SideHustle LIVE shows lived inside The Creek & The Cave's tight, tucked-in comedy room — the kind of space where a sharp founder pitch lands two feet from someone's drink. That intimacy mattered. It taught the format what it needed to be. But by early February, the show had outgrown the room. Pershing Hall is a different animal — a larger Austin venue with real production sightlines, a proper stage, and capacity north of two hundred. February 5 was the first night the SideHustle LIVE format ran there. Co-founders Darby Rollins and Tomer Soran hosted. The Austin founder crowd showed up — early, curious, and ready to play. The night was professionally documented; twenty-plus pieces of footage exist from the production team that worked the room.

What happened on stage

The format ran the way it always runs. Four to five rounds. Real entrepreneurs pitching real businesses. Real comedians punching up the bits. Funny + Fundable scoring — the dual-axis judging system that rewards a pitch for being investable and a joke for landing — handed off to audience teams who were screaming at each other across tables by the end of round one. By round two, every table had a running joke. By round three, the audience knew the rules better than some of the founders did, which is exactly the point. The hosts kept the pace moving — Darby riding the founder side, Tomer working the room — and the entrepreneurs on stage had to defend their numbers and their punchlines at the same time. That tension is what the show is built on. It's why Funny + Fundable works as a scoring frame: it forces the founder to be honest about both halves of the pitch, and it gives the audience something to actually weigh in on. The energy at Pershing was different from The Creek shows. Bigger room, more bodies, more laughs stacking on each other. Same DNA — just amplified.

The room

Pershing Hall is the kind of Austin venue that takes a show seriously. Real stage, real lighting rig, real bar, real room. Where The Creek & The Cave gave SideHustle LIVE its scrappy comedy-club intimacy — close-quarters, almost living-room — Pershing gave it a production layer. Pro lights. Cleaner sound. Sightlines from the back of the room that actually work. The pro production stepped up to match. The footage from the night looks like a TV show because, structurally, that's what was being staged. The intimacy of the early shows was traded for scale, and the format earned the trade. The room felt charged the entire night — the kind of charge that only happens when an audience figures out, about fifteen minutes in, that they're not watching a show; they're in one.

What it set up

February 5 was the first SideHustle LIVE at Pershing Hall. It was also the night Pershing became the recurring Austin venue for the format. Every show that came after — including the September 25, 2026 seven-year SideHustle brand anniversary show — runs in this room because of what this night proved. A bigger room can hold the format. The audience teams scale. The Funny + Fundable scoring still lands. Pershing is the home now.
